Has October gone already?

I heard a rumour that months seem to go by faster the older you get. It’s almost the end of 2013.  How did that even happen? My boy also turned 21 this month, it seems like only yesterday he was dressing up as Xena Warrior Princess not caring a hoot what anyone said or thought….It is such a shame we don’t carry that sense of innocence with us as the years go by. If you can, ask your parents who you used to dress up as when you were a kid and your imagination ran wild?

We put in our very first Veggie Garden Crate since launching a couple of weeks ago.  It was  SUCH A JOY.  We can’t wait to install more.  Spread the word for us? You can find all the information by following the link.

I have also been blessed to be a part of the Cradle Coast Farmers’ Market organising committee.  This Farmers’ Market, held every Sunday at The Wharf in Ulverstone. Produce to the People plans to be there once a month sharing info about what we do.  We gave away lots of lovely seeds and tomato seedlings at the first market. You can come along, support local producers and spend a lazy Sunday morning amongst your community.

Cradle Coast Farmers' MarketWe have gathered and given around 850 kilos of produce this month. It’s been a little less than usual because now of course we are delivering to schools and when they are on holidays we don’t deliver.  We also had ALL THAT RAIN which meant there were a lot of soggy paddocks and whatever did come out had to go to customers, not us!

Our School Veggie Garden Project is also coming along nicely.  Gosh the students just love getting out in the garden and getting their hands dirty!

How’s your garden growing?

I have kale, broccoli, lettuce, spinach & tomatoes in my beds at the moment. ( Even some self seeded tomatoes from last season….bonus! ) I’ve started a little spring time morning ritual – I get up, pop the kettle on for a cup of tea then head out into the veggie patch to do a little explore.  I might weed or water but best of all check out the growing situation!  This is the first year i’ve had success with broccoli – I think I am going to be able to eat it rather than the bugs.
