Are you, or do you know an elder in our community ( Burnie-Wynyard ) who might benefit from a delivery of fresh veggies each week?
Why? We have noticed an increase in the number of elders in our community accessing produce each week in our food hub. Many tell us that they are left with as little as $20 a week for food once their rent and utility bills have been paid or that they have to make the tough decision between buying their medication or food. We have also been receiving an increased number of enquiries as to how those without transport might be able to access our produce.
We insist that elders have access to fresh produce. As a community we must do what we can to care for these important people.
What kind of produce will be in the box? Each box will be filled with fresh, seasonal produce that has been grown on our farm or donated by one of our partner organisations and team of backyard growers. As with our food hub – we never know from week to week what might be about so there will be an element of surprise with each delivery. There may also be some pantry staples such as pasta and breakfast cereal.
How will it work? Fill out the contact form, or give us a call, and we will be in touch to make arrangements.
We will touch base with you as to how you are finding this new service – it may be that you only require a delivery each fortnight, or that you really don’t like kale! We will do our best to manage any reasonable request.
How are we able to provide this service for free?
We are relying on the kindness of our community to donate over on our GIVE NOW page.
