There seems to be confusion still about food donations and whether it is ok as a business to give organisations like Produce to the People food. IT IS OK and you are covered by the Good Samaritan Act. Watch the video above for a brief explanation.
If you would like to talk more you can pop in and talk with Penelope or Michelle on The Farm at Burnie High any Tuesday and Thursday or fill in our contact form.

We are so pleased to invite you to join Produce to the People’s Patron, Richmond FC CEO Brendon Gale, for champagne on the Breckenborough terrace followed by a Joesph Bugg five course degustation.
Our event, part of Burnie Shines, will be MC’d by Tasmanian legend Dr Polly McGee and will include “conversations with” Produce to the People’s founder Penelope Dodd and Richmond CEO Brendon Gale.
Our event is on Saturday October 27, 6:30PM @ Breckenborough (The Burnie Club)
This is our major fund raiser for the year @ $150 pp (includes food + wine) and all proceeds will assist Produce to the People community food projects. Each ticket puts you in to the draw for a one on one mentoring session with Brendon Gale.
We hope you will join us for a beautiful evening of fine food, wine and conversation.
*a portion of your ticket price may be claimed as a tax deduction
Seasons come and seasons go – so do volunteers! We are on a mission to find more people to join Tasmania’s Community Group of the Year on The Farm @ Produce to the People, growing, gathering and giving.
We are not for just anyone though. You will have to have a valid Working with Vulnerable People Card . You will have to have a kind disposition with a smile as default and be someone who, whilst your experience and opinion will be heard, must be able to follow directions. We are a centrelink approved organisation so if you have to do a certain number of hours we can sign your paperwork!
We have opportunities for people available to do the afternoon shift in the food hub (12-3pm), delivery drivers – dropping off produce boxes to elders in our community, produce gatherers – bread and other assorted goodies and gardeners – for our new edible flower garden, micro greens and veggie patches.
Our next volunteer orientation hour is on Tuesday 14th August at 11:30am but if you can’t wait until then pop into The Farm on any Tuesday or Thursday between midday and 2pm and ask for Michelle.
