February on The Farm

February 2017 on The Farm.jpg

Garlic harvest | Chook Dome grand opening | Gorgeous new volunteers | First Garlic sales to local cafe Palate | We were on the first episode of Andy and Ben Eat Australia! | Jam made | Kinglsey finished with us – end of projects suck big time | BHS students kicking goals on The Farm | A new corporate volunteering relationship with Caterpillar | AND we fed 871 people, an increase of 55% on last February and grew and gathered 3.2 tonne of produce!

If you would like to support our farm and food hub you might like to volunteer, grow for us or make an ongoing donation.  Every little bit helps us help our community in ways you will be amazed.

Working Bee

working bee jan 2017.jpg

So, this farming caper is VERY labour intensive and due to a number of factors – no funding to continue to pay our farm manager, 0/8 work for the dole participants – we are relying very much on volunteer labour to get our beds back to planting ready.  This Saturday we plan to attack the bed behind our greenhouse and our tunnel house.

We will be onsite between 9 and 2 and would LOVE some help, even if you can only come for an hour or so.  Many hands…..

Lovely backyard grown lemons gathered and given | a new Work for the Dole project begun | LOTS of hothouse action | farm tours with kinder kiddies | another super busy few weeks in the emergency food relief hub – we are assisting an average of 200 people each day we open  | can you help us fill our pantry by making a monthly donation of $25?  We only need 16 people/month to do this to be able to fully stock with pasta, cereal, eggs – the staples we can’t grow ourselves | BIG HUGS to our community – we love being a part of a place that knows kindness.
